Why a Patio Roof is a Good Idea for Your Porch, Rain or Shine

in Home and Furnishings,Outdoor

Many people appreciate a sunny day relaxing on the porch with lemonade and friends, or a beautiful winter wonderland, watching the kids make snowmen and making sure they return with all of their fingers and toes. There is something very special and relaxing about sitting on your porch, front or back, and knowing it belongs to you. Here are some reasons that you should have a patio roof to maximize that benefit.

Rainy Weather

Those of us in Seattle know the beauty of sitting on the patio and just enjoying listening to a summer thundershower as it rages around you. That said, you wouldn’t want to do that without a patio cover, so if you are in a temperate climate like ours (meaning two hundred or more rainy days a year) having a covered patio is most defiantly a need to have item.

Winter Time Weather

That means snow, big time, and you need to make sure that your patio roof can hold the weight that the snow in your climate is likely to bring. Every year in Washington State, a roof or two is going to come down due to the overloading of the snow. Ours in particular is usually very wet, and tends to weigh more than the average drift does.

Summer Sun Weather

Sometimes it is just nice to sit outside and enjoy a cold soda on a hot summer day, but that will only happen once if you burn your face off in the ninety degree heat. The shade provided by a patio roof will lower the temperature of your patio by a noticeable amount, making it a much more enjoyable experience for you and your family. You pay loads of money for a nice patio, it stands to reason you should get the most out of your purchase.
