Human Hair vs. Synthetic Hair Pieces: Choosing The Best

in Grooming and Appearance

When shopping for hair pieces to conceal hair loss, it is important for customers to choose products that suit their needs. Choosing something that is comfortable, natural-looking and affordable is often difficult for a customer who knows very little about wigs or toupees. There are two main types of products, those made from human hair and those made from synthetic fibers.

Selecting the right wig or toupee can be challenging, especially for someone who has not routinely purchased these products in the past.  It is important to choose a product that fits comfortably and provides the client with a look they love. A good looking head of hair usually boosts someone’s confidence, helping them appreciate their appearance. This is why selecting a piece that makes a client feel good about the way they look is the most important thing about wig shopping.

In addition to choosing a piece that boosts one’s confidence, it is important to consider how the wig was made. Look for products considered light or finely woven because they allow for more air circulation. Not only does this make customers more comfortable, it’s also better for their scalps. Allowing for air flow helps keep the blood circulating properly underneath the pieces.

Hair pieces are generally made in two forms, from synthetic fibers or from human hair. While both can look very nice, human hair typically looks more natural.  Synthetic fiber pieces cannot usually be styled using heat tools.  Human hair wigs can be styled and colored in a very similar manner to one’s own hair.  Both types of pieces feature excellent colors and styles and choosing a piece is really up to the customer.

To purchase hair pieces for hair replacement, customers should consider several points when shopping. Try on different styles and colors, choosing only the pieces that boost confidence. Work with pieces that are well made and allow for air flow to the scalp. It is also important to consider what type of fiber the wig is made out of because these choices affect how the hair can be styled.
