If there is one color that can change a room like no other then that is red. Provided you know what you are doing, a red rug can make your room quite special, but, of course, red is quite a powerful color so you do have to take care with it. Here are the ways you can change your room with a red rug and get it right.
1. Add Excitement to Your Color Scheme
Sometimes even a newly decorated room can have something lacking and you find that you are uninspired by the whole color scheme when you enter. Red area rugs are the type of accessory that can lift a whole scheme and make it something special. You would do this effectively by adding a red rug to your floor and then using the exact red from the rug in other items such as cushions or a throw, which are easy to add even to a finished room scheme.
2. Help Cement the Style of Your Room
If you are not sure about the style you want for your room, and you have fairly neutral furnishings, a rug can help place it firmly in one camp or another. If you use a traditional red Persian rug, for example, it helps stamp your room as traditional and you can then add other traditional or ethnic items to give your room more personality. If you add a rug with a bold modern design, on the other hand, you will be giving your room a contemporary feel, which you can then also build on.
3. Provide a Focal Point For Your Room
If your room has no obvious focal point, a red rug can certainly take on that task as red is a color which attracts plenty of attention. A good idea here is to add a circular rug to a bare area of floor and then to balance this by adding other red items to the rest of the room so that you have a focal point, without it taking all the attention.
